SAN FRANCISCO (KPIX 5)

San Francisco is home to many diverse southeast Asian cultures. This week’s Jefferson Award winner has a passion for celebrating them through colorful community events.
From lively Laotian music… to meditative Tai Chi, the Mid-Autumn Harvest Festival highlights the richness of the Southeast Asian culture at the Tenderloin Recreation Center and Children’s Playground. Hang Le To helped start this event six years ago because so many immigrant families live in the neighborhood.
“They just want to share the culture,” she explained. “Who they are, what they do.”
Hang coordinates the festival as part of the Southeast Asian Arts and Culture Coalition she co-founded in 2011. Its represents diverse ethnic groups: Burmese, Cambodian, Filipino, and Thai to name a few. …

Mid-Autumn Harvest Festival 2016


You're cordially invited to attend the sixth Southeast Asian Arts & Culture Exhibition celebrating the mid-autumn harvest season!

When: Saturday, September 17, 2016 — 11:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Where: Tenderloin Recreation Center — 570 Ellis Street, San Francisco CA 94109

The Exhibition helps promote and preserve the arts and culture of the Southeast Asian American communities in San Francisco, specifically highlighting the Indo-Chinese refugee communities which have a long history in the Tenderloin neighborhood of San Francisco. We will have representatives from the Burmese, Champa, Cambodian, Filipino, Laotian, Thai, and Vietnamese communities. Come celebrate the Mid-Autumn Harvest Festival with us and learn more about the different Southeast Asian cultures.
